Where can I find Custom Fields?
Case Manager keeps all the custom fields that caseworkers can create under the heading Custom Fields. (This can be found in the Administration section of your navigation bar).
Creating a Custom Field
To create a new custom field, you’ll first need to create a field list. Navigate to your side menu and select Create field list. Give your field list an appropriate name and create it. Your newly created field list will now be listed in the Custom Fields area. Once selected from the list, you will now see all the types of custom fields you can create from the left-handed menu.
Adding a Custom Field to an Existing Field List
Custom fields can be added to a pre-made field list, or alternatively you can create a field list to add the field to. You can see below a list of custom fields that are available in a system, categorised by name, display name and if the custom field is active or not.
Adding a field list can be done by selecting from the Field List Tasks menu. The majority of fields you can create will only require a name & a display name upon creating. With options to make the field Mandatory or Anonymous by checking their reflective boxes.
➡ Note: When naming your field, it is important to keep in mind that case manager uses the camelCase convention. Where an initial capital is used for the first letter of a word forming the second element of a closed compound, e.g. iPhone, eBay, etc. This is used exclusively for the name. The camelCase convention is primarily used for backend purposes e.g. used for the reporting feature to distinguish between data.
Other fields such as single-value pick-list & multi-values pick-list require selecting after creation in order to "Add a value" within the pick-list.
➡ Note: Values within pick-lists can also be dependent on another. However, it is important to note that Dynamic Vocabulary Values can only be dependent on what is above them. To do so, select your pick-list that has the value you want to be dependant by. Select Add dependency. Now select your dependant field from the drop-down list. Then select the value.
